Gleanings, Kentucky
Gleanings, Kentucky

Gleanings is a LaRue county community near the Rolling Fork about 15 miles east of Hodgenville. It was once a mill town, but little remains.

The Gleanings post office opened in 1886, moved several times in the area, and closed in 1959. The Hawkroost post office, operated by James N. Lowe, was nearby from 1880 to 1881. The Rolling Fork post office was probably in the vicinity from about 1824 to 1864.

Gleanings may be near the site of the proposed town of Lystra, which was planned about 1794, but never built.
