Mill Springs, Kentucky

Mill Springs is in Wayne county about eight miles north of Monticello on the south shore of Lake Cumberland. Near here on the Cumberland River at Meadow Creek was Prices Landing, settled before 1780. Mills operated on the site beginning in the early nineteenth century, taking advantage of water power from a series of springs. One of the mills has been restored and is still operating. The location was also known as Mill Springs Landing. The Mill Springs post office opened in 1825 and closed in 1994.

The Civil War battle of Mill Springs was fought in the area in January 1862 and part of the Mill Springs Battlefield National Monument is at Mill Springs.
