Bagdad, Kentucky
Bagdad is a Shelby county community at the headwaters of Sixmile Creek and Guist Creek about ten miles northeast of Shelbyville. It is centered on what was a station on the Louisville and Frankfort Railroad. There are several local stories, but the source of the name is not known or if it has any connection to the ancient Iraqi city of Baghdad.
The Bagdad post office opened in 1861.
