Bennetts Mill, Kentucky
Bennetts Mill was a Greenup county community on Tygarts Creek about eight miles northwest of Greenup. The Tygarts Creek Manufacturing Company built their Globe Furnace in the vicinity circa 1832 and it operated until 1841. Benjamin Franklin Bennett and William Parmoley Bennett built a grist mill at the site in 1855 and the community became known as Bennetts Mill.
An Argentum post office opened in 1884 and closed in 1933. The source of the name is obscure.
The Bennetts Mill covered bridge crosses Tygart Creek nearby. Built by the Bennetts to access their mill, the stone for the bridge foundation came from the dismantled Globe Furnace.
