Brooks, Kentucky
Brooks is a Bullitt county community just north of Shepherdsville. The area was settled beginning about 1784 and became known as Brooks for a local family.
Brooks is not incorporated.
The Brooks Station post office opened in 1858, was renamed Mount Vitio in 1867, and was renamed Brooks in late 1885.
The population of the Brooks census designated place in 2020 was 2,469.
North of Brooks is the 23-acre A. L. Taylor site that was used for disposing of and recycling storage drums from 1967 to 1977. Known as the "Valley of the Drums" it was an early Superfund site and required extensive cleanup because of surface and subsurface water and soil contamination. Over 17,000 drums were found on the site.
