Christianburg, Kentucky
Christianburg was a Shelby county city about nine miles northeast of Shelbyville. It was settled in the early nineteenth century and was known as Hinesville until about 1819 when it was named Christiansburg. The origins of the names are not known and the spelling of Christianburg varied over the years. The original location is now known as Old Christianburg – the town moved with arrival of the railroad circa 1850.
Christiansburg was incorporated in 1819 and 1850, but was later dissolved.
The Christiansburgh post office opened in 1825 and it was changed to Christianburg in 1894. It closed in 1955.
