Cropper, Kentucky

Cropper was a Shelby county city about 11 miles northeast of Shelbyville. Settlement began in the late eighteenth century and the town was named for James Cropper, a prominent land owner in the early nineteenth century. The railroad arrived circa 1850 and the locale was known as Croppers Depot.

Cropper was incorporated in 1890, but was later dissolved.

The Cropper Depot post office opened in 1851, was renamed Cropper in 1882, and closed in 1984.
