Downingsville, Kentucky
Downingsville is a Grant county community about eight miles west of Williamstown on Eagle Creek. A town was created in 1844 by John H. Downing and probably peaked with a population of about 60. Little remains.
Downingsville was established by the Kentucky General Assembly in 1843.
The Downingsville post office opened in 1844 and closed in 1846. A Johnsons post office operated in 1847 and 1848. The Downingsville post office opened again in 1848 and closed in 1909.
