Kyrock, Kentucky
Kyrock was an Edmonson county community about five miles north of Brownsville. It was established circa 1910 by the Kentucky Rock Asphalt Company to provide housing for workers. The company mined a tar and sandstone material used for paving and shipped it by barge. Such mining began in the area by the 1880s. Mining stopped circa 1958. The population probably reached at least 1,000.
The Kyrock post office opened in 1920 and closed in 1955.
