Oven Fork, Kentucky
Oven Fork is a Letcher county community on Pine Mountain and the Poor Fork of the Cumberland River about five miles southwest of Whitesburg. Settlement began before 1800 with a number of settlers from Germany. The community was named for the local stream, which is now known as Franks Creek. Stories about the Oven Fork name include brick making or bread baking.
Oven Fork post offices operated at various locations in the vicinity from 1879 to 1922 and from 1945 to 1993.
Just northeast of Oven Fork, accessible from KY 932, is the Bad Branch State Nature Preserve. The Pine Mountain State Scenic Trail intersects with US 119 just north of Oven Fork.
