Payneville, Kentucky
Payneville is a Meade county community about 10 miles west of Brandenburg. It was settled in the nineteenth century and was originally known as Caseyville for landowner Rueben Case. Since there is another Caseyville, in Union county, the name was changed to Payneville, for another landowner. The name is sometimes spelled Paynesville.
The Payneville post office opened in 1868.
