Relief, Kentucky
Relief is in Morgan county near Paint Creek about 14 miles northeast of West Liberty. The original location was on Paint Creek at the mouth of Browns Branch, but that area was purchased during construction of the Paintsville Lake Dam circa 1980. Browns Branch was named for a local family. The origin of the name Relief is obscure.
The Relief post office opened in 1859 and closed in 1983.
