Romine, Kentucky
Romine was a Taylor county community about nine miles south of Campbellsville. It was named for a local family. Romine is on what was in the nineteenth century the Campbellsville-Columbia Turnpike.
The Romine post office opened in 1901 and closed in 1942.
Romine is just east of Tibbs (or Tebbs) Bend of the Green River, the site of a Civil War battle in July, 1863. Part of the battlefield is preserved in the Tebbs Bend Nature Area – a state conservation area owned by Taylor county – and protected agricultural areas. The Tebbs Bend Battlefield Association works to preserve the battlefield and associated structures.
