Skilesville, Kentucky
Skilesville is a Muhlenberg county community on the Green River about 17 miles east of Greenville. It is below the mouth of the Mud River and originated as a part of The Mouth, a settlement which also gave rise to nearby Rochester. Skilesville was founded in 1837 and named to honor James Rumsey Skiles. The community is marked Skillville on some maps. It was incorporated in 1876 but was later dissolved. The Skilesville post office opened in 1840 and operated, with some interruptions, until 1907. The Model Mills post office operated in the area from 1855 to 1865.
