Sweeden, Kentucky
Sweeden was an Edmonson county community about five miles north of Brownsville. It was founded circa 1883 by Larkin Proctor who attracted several Swedish families to move to the area. Originally known as New Sweden, the name was later changed to Sweeden. The reason for the unusual spelling hasn't been established.
The New Sweden post office opened in 1892 and was renamed Sweeden in 1894.
