Columbus, Kentucky
Columbus is a Fayette county community east of Lexington on Royster Road. It was established when Clarence H. Crimm subdivided his land in 1893 and was settled largely by formerly enslaved people and their families. It may have been known as Clarencetown or Crimmtown originally, but was named Columbiatown, for the Columbian Exposition, and later became known as Columbus.
