Combs is a Perry county community just northwest of Hazard. Combs was one of several coal camps in the vicinity and was originally known as Dolen, named for the Domino Coal Company and Lennut Coal Company. The town was renamed Combs, for a local land owner, in 1932.

Combs was incorporated in 1967 and dissolved in 1968.

The Combs post office opened in 1922.
