Cuba is a Graves county community about 10 miles south of Mayfield. The name probably came from the island of Cuba which was much in the news in the mid-nineteenth century. The town of Cuba was well known in Kentucky when Cuba High School won the state basketball championship in 1951. The Cuba post office opened in 1858 and closed and reopened several times before closing in 1905.
