Freeburn, Kentucky

Freeburn is a Pike county community on Tug Fork at the mouth of Peter Creek about 25 miles northeast of Pikeville. It was named for the Freeburn Coal and Coke Company that owned several mines in the area. Freeburn was incorporated at some point, but was later dissolved. The Freeburn post office opened in 1933. The population of the Freeburn census designated place was 399 in 2010.
