Greendale was a Fayette county community off the Georgetown Pike just north of Lexington. The name may come from a local family. Greendale Station on the Cincinnati Railway opened there in the late nineteenth century. Greendale has been absorbed by Lexington. The Greendale post office opened in 1879 and closed in 1957.
