Helena is a Mason county community about eight miles south of Maysville. The origin of the name is unknown.

It was incorporated in 1854, but was later dissolved.

The Helena post office opened in 1837, moved a short distance in 1856, was renamed Millwood in 1858, and closed in 1861. A new Helena post office opened in 1858 and closed in 1924.
