Hillview is a Bullitt county city just north of Shepherdsville and extending into neighboring Jefferson county. It encompasses Maryville and several other subdivisions developed in the 1960s. The name Hillview was chosen to avoid using any of the existing names and because of the terrain.

Hillview was incorporated in 1974.

The Hillview post office opened in 2000.

The population in 2020 was 8,613.
