Kirksville, Kentucky
Kirksville is a Madison county community about nine miles southwest of Richmond between Silver Creek and Paint Lick Creek. It was named for Samuel Kirkendall who provided land for a school and church. Settlement may have begun in the early nineteenth century and the vicinity was known as Baghdad and Centerville.
The Kirksville post office opened in 1845 and closed in 1975.
