Milford, Kentucky
Milford, Kentucky

Milford was a Madison county town on a hill above Taylor Fork, southwest of the location that is now Richmond. It was founded in 1787 and said to be named for Milford, a man enslaved by John Kincaid. It was officially established by the Virginia assembly in 1789 as the seat of the county, which had been formed in 1786. The first Madison County Courthouse was built in 1788.

Milford was the county seat until 1798 when it was moved to the new town of Richmond. Milford declined afterward and nothing now remains.
