Moranburg is a Mason county community on Lawrence Creek just northwest of Maysville. It was settled by the early nineteenth century and was originally known as Lawrence Creek. The Moranburg name comes from a local family. The name is sometimes spelled Moransburg. The Moranburgh post office opened in 1886, the spelling was changed to Moranburg in 1892, and it closed in 1907.
