Neatsville, Kentucky
Neatsville is an Adair county community near the Green River about 14 miles northeast of Columbia. It was named for the Neat family who settled in the vicinity in the early nineteenth century. It was originally on the river but moved after flooding. In 1964 the US Army Corps of Engineers bought land in the area for the Green River Lake and people moved both north and south of the river to higher ground.
Neetsville was incorporated in 1847, later renamed Neatsville, and still later dissolved.
The Neatsville post office opened in 1840 and closed in 1876. A Neetsville post office operated from 1876 to 1886. Neatsburg post office operated from 1895 to 1920.
