Providence, Kentucky
Providence is a Webster county city about six miles south of Dixon. Settlement began circa 1800. It was first known as Savageville, for an early settler, but was called Providence by 1830.
Providence was established in 1840 and incorporated in 1860.
The Providence post office opened in 1828.
The population in 2020 was 2,900.
