Short Creek is a Grayson county community about 11 miles northwest of Leitchfield on Short Creek. It was named for the creek, although it may have been known as Tilfordsville in the early nineteenth century for an early store keeper. The Short Creek post office opened in 1849 and closed and opened several times before finally closing in 1958.
