Thealka, Kentucky
Thealka is a Johnson county community just northeast of Paintsville on Levisa Fork at the mouth of Muddy Branch. The village was established by the North East Coal Company about 1906.
The Muddy Branch post office opened in 1906, was renamed Thealka in 1911, and closed in 1986. Thealka was named for Alka Meeks Mayo, daughter of a local businessman who also had a steamship named Thealka for his daughter.
