Torrent, a southwestern Wolfe county community on KY 11 about six miles southwest of Campton was once the site of the El Park Hotel resort, built in 1890 and destroyed by fire in 1935. The town was named for a nearby waterfall. The Torrent post office opened in 1890 and the post office and railroad station closed in the 1930s.
