Alexandria, Kentucky
Alexandria, one of the seats of Campbell county, is located in the central part of the county about eight miles south of Newport, the other county seat. The area was settled beginning around 1793 and may have been named for the city in Virginia. Alexandria was incorporated in 1856. The Alexandria post office opened in 1819. The population in 2010 was 8,477.
