Cecil is a McCracken county community on the northwest edge of Paducah.

The Cecil post office opened in 1901 and closed in 1905.

Near Cecil was the site of the Ohio River Lock and Dam 52. The old upstream Lock and Dam 51 was near Berry Ferry and the downstream Lock and Dam 53 was near Monkeys Eyebrow.
