Highgrove is a Nelson county community about 13 miles north of Bardstown on the East Fork of Cox Creek. It was named for its original location on a hill in a grove of trees. The High Grove post office opened in 1830, moved about two miles north to the creek in the 1890s, and closed in 1906.
