Little Hickman, Kentucky
Little Hickman is a Jessamine county community on Little Hickman Creek about nine miles south of Nicholasville. The name may come from James Hickman, a landowner in the late eighteenth century. The Little Hickman name is now applied to the surrounding area, including the nearby community of Pink.
A Little Hickman post office operated from 1867 to 1917.
The Kentucky River Lock and Dam 8 near Little Hickman went into operation in 1900. The lock was closed in 2001. The downstream lock 7 is at High Bridge and the upstream lock 9 is at Valley View. Lock and Dam 8 are maintained by the Kentucky River Authority.
