Pendleton county is in the Bluegrass region of Kentucky. The elevation in the county ranges from 455 to 960 feet above sea level.
It was formed in 1799 from Bracken and Campbell counties. Pendleton county was a source of Owen (1819) and Grant (1820) counties. The county seat is Falmouth.
In 2020 the county population was 14,644 in a land area of 277.16 square miles, an average of 52.8 people per square mile.
The equine population was 2,200 in the 2012 Kentucky Equine Survey.
Pendleton county is in the Cincinnati metro statistical area and the Northern Kentucky Area Development District.
Pendleton county was named for Edmund Pendleton, judge, member of the Virginia legislature, and member of the first Continental Congress.
